My bro got a new Canon PowerShot a95 (I think that’s what it was), so we decided to drive down highway 101 on the Oregon Coast and take some photos at the viewpoints.
It was kind of a strange day, the clouds seemed to be coming in a enormous speeds from the ocean (going south at the same time), you could see them move across the sky they were going to fast. Everytime we would stop they would catch up with us :o
I did some photoshopping on a couple of them. For saturation and brightness on a 2 or 3 of them, and I removed a couple (clone tool) that were sitting on a cliff on one of the Hug Point images.
Let me know what you think…this might be a slightly slow. The image are a little too large to be hosted on my other site, not enough bandwidth (I need to change hosts…3 gig isn’t enough), they’re hosted on my own server here at home. Each image is roughly 230kb.
They look pretty good to me, nothing that special, but they’re good pictures none the less.
My favourite one was the last on the first page with the leaves in the foreground. It’s very easy on the eyes.
My only crit is that most of the pictures don’t seem to have any/much foreground, as if you’ve cut the bottom of the images off. Is that a valid point?
p.s. the second photo on the second page is very nice too.
Nice photographs My favorites are the coastal ones. Very peaceful looking.
For some strange reason the third photo (smokestack?) looks somewhat cg-ish, like a cylinder with an okay texture, maybe not enough nor… lol…
The marina one is nice in that, as busy as it is, there’s a balance present, a path roughly down the center, which makes it interesting from a compositional pov.
I love the DOF in the fourth one, the coastal one with foreground branches.
I wish people would post in this forum more often Much potential, and always with concepts that could be reapplied in 3d.

LOL, I kinda thought the same thing.

Yeah, we drove into the parking lot and I noticed it immediately…just had to go for it.

I agree, the ideas in traditional art, esp. photography and cinematography (lighting), and then into painting and drawing (modeling and composition and color) among other things really are the roots of 3D rendering.
Whoa, that hug point one brings back a lot of memories. Used to go there all the time, and almost got boxed in by the incoming tide a few times.
Awesome!!

You’re very right, that’s why the best ones are those at hug point with the plants right in front of the camera.
