Photorealistic Acoustic Guitar

Hi all,

This is my first post to Blender Artists. I’m currently taking a shader programming class at Brigham Young University and wanted to get some feedback on my progress so far.

It’s a Rogue Acoustic Guitar (not sure about the model number). The intent is to composite the model into a photograph where the real guitar is missing and use Nuke to make it look like it belonged there in the first place. I used Blender 2.68 & 2.69 to create the model and the UV maps, then used Houdini 12.1 to create the shaders. The wood textures are photographs from the actual guitar.

Let me know what you think. I’m planning on toning down the amount of reflection on the back of the guitar as well as the neck, then add a few smudges and scratches (especially on the scratch guard)

It’s too shiny and glossy, if you would like, i can take pictures of my acoustic and show you

Thanks for the critique. Any other tips?

I built this model based on a guitar that I actually own, so I have it here with me. So I don’t need photos but thanks for the offer.
