physics baking

ok, so when i bake the physics in a game im making, the fps of the baking process drops to about 1 fps. Is this normal? the game has alot of physics enabled objects, but my computer is capable of playing it at 300fps with all frames enabled. blender is telling me that only 2% of the process time is used for the physics, while 95% is used for the scenegraph.

so my question is how can i make it faster without changing the game, and what is a scenegraph?
i have a hunch that its like the coordinate storage system used by the rasterizer.

it be really helpful to know cause i dont want to waste several days waiting for something to bake!
