Physics based tank animation

I was just wondering is there a way to produce a physics based animation of a tank in Blender? I’m thinking particularly of the tracks, and correctly deforming when moving over obstacles. This seems to be doable in Sketchup with the SketchyPhysics plugin (there’s some great animations on YouTube), but i wonder can it be achieved in Blender?

I’m new to Blender so any info is helpful!
