Ok so i’ve made a good start on a game character. The sculpting still awaits, and then the animations. That’s where my first issue appears.
My character has lots of little details into it, in the form of some chains (one for a lantern hanging to his belt, one at the end of his weapon). Also he has a skirt-ish thing.
Now when i animate him, how can i make sure that chains act naturally (that when i make an attack animation that the chain on his weapon moves along naturally). Also if i would make a walk cycle, i want the ‘skirt’ to act like the legs touch it underneath.
I’ve been messing around, but my ‘skirt’ just falls down (thats my main problem) and doesn’t stick to his upper body. The chains act ok, except for the lantern chain wich also falls down trough the part where it’s attached to.
How can i solve all this? Remember i only want it to act naturally when i animate him, nothing else
I hope this was enough information, if not i can post a screenshot or my work so far.
you need to make an object a static?! object and parent it to your character. That should hold it in place and give the chain or what ever something to collide with.
yes and no. of course it wouldnt move by laws of physics but i may have expressed myself bad. You keep the physic settings for e.g. the chain and everything that follows but create a “hook” with static settings that is parented to your character. That way the stuff around can move correct and doesn’t falls into nowhere.
check the game-forum part about examples.
There are a lot including with how and why
and there are moving characters too.
If you cannot make your way thru those settings,
then you probably want to do it in another way.
(i dont post any links, because it does not make sense to me
to send you to such complicated settings of characters with ragdoll
animations - they are in this forum-part too)
