Can anybody tell me why the pictures on the nodes sometimes jump around when you click on different nodes? Is there a way to prevent this? (By “pictures” I mean the images of textures, previews, outputs, etc. within the node themselves.)
I already tried restarting Blender - and later my PC too - to no effect. I find it usually happens when the node network gets large. I am currently experiencing it in compositing nodes in ver 2.43, but I have previously found the same problem in material nodes in ver 2.42.
This is quite annoying, as one can later not make out what the what happens where in the node network.

Like I said, it happens with both material and composite nodes. Unfortunately, I don’t have a material node screen shot that exhibits the problem, but the “background image” on the other thread you just commented on (http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?p=848924#post848924) contains a screen shot that exhibits the composite problem.
In that image every image is in the wrong spot:
The B&W picture on the left should be the red car with green background as shown in the “Green” image input node
The top right viewer’s image should be in the composite node - and itself should contain the B&W image shown in the leftmost image node (ForeGnd_Fr_300.jpg.
The green image in the composite node should be in the “Green” image input node at the bottomAs you can see, it is all screwed up…
ya know, I noticed that in your screenshot is was like whoa this dude is messed up cuz he’s like feeding the mask into the something and then subtracting from a cool red pic and whatnot and then when I opened the file it was like whoa, this dude is catching on. But are you saying that the screenshot in your post with the messed up images is what the posted blend file looks like on your PC? Cuz if so that is like whoa seriously messed up. if blender did that to me i would like be seriously insane. and pissed off, which I can kinda tell you’re feeling right now.
Yes, it sometimes does it and sometimes not. I have not been able to find out why it sometimes does that. When I opened the blend file I posted here, it was working fine again. But closing Blender and restarting and re-opening does not always help.
So, you’ve never had the problem? That’s curious… Especially when it seems you are quite a power user.
no. refreshing, yes but E or Render cure that… switching no never. I mean, I could if I like had a file output node create an image file that is used by the image input node, ya know, or maybe a UV texture in texture paint mode overwriting an image used by an input node… to create some sort of a circular feedback loop, and got my filenames duplicated, but I use different input and output directories to avoid that.
