PieMaster - [Addon] [$]

I’m updating the drawers in Asset Folder mode to use other data!

OBJECTS

  • Append, link from Blend Files
  • Import FBX, OBJ, etc.

HDRI

  • Create a texture file and connect it to the World node.
  • If one exists, it will replace the map path.

TEXTURES

  • If the menu is on the Node Editor, it will create the texture file node or replace it if the node is selected

MATERIALS

  • Will add a new material in Object Mode on the selection
  • Will add the material to the selected faces in Edit Mode

I also added a zoom feature that you can enable and set the zoom level.

Note: You can place the menu in any editor.

So I save the assets when I export a preset, and it creates a copy of the icons so it is “standalone”, but I also noticed my icons disappearing. It seems like save preset with bundle icons deletes the icons folder and its contents and rewrites it. This is an issue when I add one an item and save the preset, it looks like it deletes the other icons that were saved on there. I was thinking it would just add any new icons and skip/rewrite existing icons that live there. Unless I’m doing something wrong?

Looking at git, the readme before had
-77 custom icon(s) in icons/ folder.
When I added an icon and saved the preset, I could see on git that it deleted all the icons in the fodler and it says on the contents
- 1 custom icon(s) in icon/s folder

The add-on only saves used icons in the preset when you export it, and it deletes the unused ones.
It’s to avoid having a lot of unused icons.

I need more information to understand exactly the issue.

The addon has been updated to version 0.2.4!

As always

  1. Save your preferences
  2. Save your presets
  3. Remove > Restart > Install

That’s the thing, it’s still used by my menus which is why I was confused why my icons kept disappearing, when this is what I thought the feature was trying to avoid. Only the new “added” ones on save preset are recognized, so the rest (older ones that already exist there) are all deleted. So if I have my existing preset menu, I add one more with a custom icon, export preset with the icons, only the new icon is on there, and the other menus I have now have missing icons since they were deleted by the save.

OK, I will check that, thank you for the report

OK, bug fixed!

I’ll upload the new version this afternoon, I need to check you UI scale issus.

Thank you! Slow down though, don’t work too fast! I enjoy customizing too much so I won’t be able to get any work done.

New feature: follow the Blender resolution scale or the OS scale.

I think it was necessary, so it’s good to have it :index_pointing_up:

I’m adding something interesting to PieMaster Asset Folders!

The possibility to add operations after importing an asset (Mesh, HDRI, Material, Texture).

An example:

Click: Add a Texture node
Shift + Click: Texture node + Color Ramp
Ctrl + Click: Texture in box Mode + nodes

What would you?

Thanks, the scale is working perfect!

Some questions:

  1. I have a menu that doesn’t chain back, and I just duplicated the menu from a menu that does a chainback, and that one works fine. What could be causing this?
  2. The outline on a drawer item that’s selected–where is this getting the theme? I want to remove the outline on that.

Send me your preset; I’ll check.

Button border for the drawer item border.

Since I can do whatever I want with PieMaster, I’m testing something to speed up work in the Material Node Editor using PieMaster, a script to add nodes, and Node Wrangler.

Mixing all of that into a smart preset that fits my own workflow!

What do you think about this?

An update on this Pie Menu for the Shading Editor.

I added buttons that do things like add a texture, plus a Trigger Variant to add a Pie Call that opens a nested pie menu with other options.
I also added a Hover On Open Delay of 1 second to automatically open the nested pie if the mouse is on the button for one second.

We have so many possibilities!!!

This preset uses a custom Python file to add nodes on the mouse.
I’ll add it to the addon directly with the scripts I create.

Ok, I made a tutorial to show you how I did it!

I added the preset to the add-on.

Until the new version, you can test it!

lehmitz made another nice menu in PieMaster for Geometry Nodes, this time!
It’s great, as an add-on dev and a 3D creator, to see what users can do with your products!

Show me your menus, guys

I’ve always wanted a feature like that in Blender, and now I can achieve it with PieMaster!

This is still a work in progress.

Looking good Cedric,

My knowledge of Blender is fairly rudimentary.

My Pie needs will probably evolve over time.

This is a more refined version of my early Piemaster experiments.

Users will need obviously need a few addons to get the full benefit. (machinetools, cablerator & align&distribute, if my memory serves)

I’m having trouble keeping up with the new features.

My experiments will continue.

I’ll probably use the chain mode and nested menus in my next set.

Maybe someone will find this useful.

Cheers,

Neil

Edit:

I’ve added a couple of screen grabs and I’ve stripped it back not to include any add ons.

The 2 Keymaps are for one button on my TourBox.

This can be obviously be changed to suit the user.
