Just stumbled across Pikimov, a Chrome based video editor and motion graphics tool. Inspired by Photopea and After Effects it provides a layer based system. Currently it’s free to use.
It’s specifically designed to run on Chrome. It doesn’t work with Firefox or Safari.

Yes, it’s a free alternative to After Effects, and like Photopea, it will stay free forever.
Pikimov is a web-based app, there’s nothing to install, no account to register. Use it to mix images, videos, audios and 3D models into video compositions.
While its currently mostly 2D oriented, you can import 3D models ( .glb format ).
A big update bringing a lot of 3D features will land very soon, to let you create compositions like this one, mixing 2D and 3D layers together:
