Giant photo-scanned pine cones create the homes of the forest folks! And yes, this pine cone is a 3d scan of a real pine cone!
This is my first time experimenting with 3d scans and I have to say they are pretty convenient to use! Really helpful when you need 3D assets but do not have enough skills to model one. I have a few more posts in mind on using these scans to bring some real-life objects and integrate them into animations.
Here’s a breakdown of the whole scene:
