Pininfarina Concept Car - Tutorial Pages 1 - 5 WiP

i vote written, because vids often dont have such good resolution and my internet connection is set to ULTRA Lite, from Rogers

Hey Tictoon,
i hear you. Video tuts are faster to produce than written ones but for me, it’s always hard to pause/play/rewind when I need to go over a certain part again.

Most likely, I’ll do a pdf that ppl can download and print (if they want to) and some short quick video clips of a handful of tricky parts that are better to explain showing that writing much about it.

You say rogers … are you in Canada? (just wondering)

You’re model looks good. I’ve been wanting to learn more about car modeling, so more tutorials the better. I like written ones so I can easily go back instead of rewinding pausing, etc.

I don’t believe you when you say that your a newb.
This looks like you’ve known your way all along.
Hope your tutorial will be better than the porsche one, that confused me.
Good luck.

LOL, that was a joke, sorry

As far as the tutorial goes, I hope it will be the best tutorial for cars out there. Not because of my writing, but because of the feedback from the readers. I’m working on it right now and hope to post a few more pages tonight

Thanks for commenting Sha!

Hey Onemanblend:

Looks like the start of a very important tutorial for the Blender community. Especially considering the number of users who would like to be able to model cars with some expertise, including me.

Since you asked for comments on your work, I believe I’ve spotted an error on page 1. In step 3 where you say “Press the g key and then draw a rechtange outside the four vertices,” I think you meant Press the b key.

I’m anxiously awaiting some additions to your excellent start.

Thank you for taking the time to even write a tutorial.

hey blenditos,
i uploaded more of the tut.

Hope to continue tomorrow after work

Thanks for the correction Larry  … I can use all the help that I can get.

Feedback is appreciated and I’ll do my best to accommodate all the recommendations so that the tut is useful to a lot of ppl

Adios amigos!

the new urs is:
http://www.vga-studio.com/blender/tutorials/pininfarina/page1.htm

and you can get additonal pages from the dropdown list (I’ll add a better menu once I have more pages)

link is dead for me. I’m a text tutorial guy, easier to filter out the bits you don’t need, or search for stuff.

freaky dude,
sorry about that … I wanted to add a blend file download but the script isn’t working so I’ll fix it tomorrow … the link works again.

Tutorial pages 1 - 5 are now added

http://www.vga-studio.com/blender/tutorials/pininfarina/page1.htm

Should the link not be available, then it’s because I’m updating the pages (try agian in 10 minutes)

Feedback and suggestions for improvement are most welcome

Because there will be a lot of pages (once I’m done) I’ve chosen a drop down menu. I’m still thinking about a better way of navigating …

Wow it looks great but i wonder how the driver get in that car

It’s kind of like the Caramel secret. NO one knows how the caramel gets inside the chocolate and yet, it’s in there.

hey

i got more work done on the animation …

just a quick screen shot thumbnail image and test render here … hope to have a decent animation to show soon. Next is adding more buildings and then texturing everything.

your pretty good bro… i like the design, only thing that bothers me is that the side skirts are way too close to the tire. my friend and i lowered his car too far, every time he’d hit a bump it would rip holes in the tires… its not so much the top as the bottom ya know? just nitpicking… other than that the design is pretty slick =) makes me want to design a car

Hope all goes well, save lots of versions, incase a small thing in the animation goes wrong, (takes years to sort out)

also, the car is amazing, and reminds me a bit of a concept i once did,

Great, could be a 5*'r but ill leave a rating till you do the anim

Joe

thank guys

hey everyone,
I just did a quick render … hope to finish the lights tomorrow and do some more tweaking on the animation. This should be an exciting weekend

P.S. I did this in a dark room so … if you look at this in day light, it might look darkish … will post a nicer render tomorrow!
