Pink elephant and white mouse

Playing with HDRI is so pleasant, here is another one.

I added some armatures, easy to change the pose now. I’m preparing a small animation.

C&C are welcome.

looks great!
what is your render time for each frame?
i’m excited to see an animation.

The render time is about 8 min for each frame using Yafray render, for the animation I will probably use the blender internal render engine to speed the rendering, of course this as a price and the quality will be less than the actual result, but animation allows less resolution and image quality.

8 minutes isn’t the worst.
just set it up and have it render the animation
while you sleep… that’s what i would do if i had
decent animations worth animating

[noob]what is HDRI and how do you use it?[/noob]

HDRI is used to get more realistic images, an image with a special format (HDR extension) is used to illuminate the scene in addition to traditional lights. Another exemple could be found here

A tutorial on how to use HDRI with Blender and Yafray is available there

More information as well as HDRI images could be found here

That is actually a horrible tutorial. If you go to this page, there is a part about yafray + hdri, which is good to get you started.

I didn’t knew about this tutorial, in fact it seems to be much more complete than the one I mentioned.

Well, it isn’t exactly an HDRI tutorial, since that’s just a part of it, but it does some important things BioRUST doesn’t, for example the mapping, and the true hdri settings… The BioRUST tutorial still lights the scene with a normal lamp, which doesn’t make it not much better than a normal world texture (apart from the stronger highlights).
