Hi there, I was just wondering… is there some sort of open source pipeline management software out there that the Blender Foundation uses to manage it’s projects? For example the last one… Tears of Steal. How did they manage things?
I was just looking at this http://www.shotgunsoftware.com/ and wondered if there was an open source alternative.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
M
For my projects, I’ve been using Redmine (which beats what I’d been using before: just a wiki). It’s originally built for software development, but I’ve been very pleased with using it as a pipeline and production management tool for animation (despite the fact that it’s a little memory-hungry, IMO). Alternatively, you might want to have a look at Tactic, by Southpaw Technology. It’s a production-tested asset management system that was open sourced a few months ago. I know that a few studios have shoehorned it into being a full production management tool.
wow, i went to all the trouble of cloning Redmine trunk, downloading all the dependencies, and then realized it’s available in the Ubuntu repositories. good grief! lesson learned, always look in the repositories first.
thanks for the tip!
