Pirate head, or something like that

Hi… just started this today, about 2 hours of work. Make it to try de sculpt mode.

Here it is

and the wire

I don’t really like the mouth area. Anyway it’s just a start :stuck_out_tongue:

Make sure you have a face in the corner of the mouth. A more or less upright standing trapezoid, just quite small. It’s important for a smooth surface and for following the ring of muscles.

You also should take care of the sternocleidomastoid (an image search will give you good reference). An edgeloop should run from behind the jaw / below the ears to the front at the base of the neck .

Thanks for the reply.

Added ears and made some changes on the mesh.

And the Wire

hmmm…not bad…the lips look weird maybe you should close them…the ears dont have enough defenition in them…and i guess thats it…shape first detail later…

Hi, Thanks for the reply Trak Wrecka. Here’s my first test with the sculpt mode.

[edit]Now he has enough chin, it just has too much sag.[/edit]

I think what you are not liking about the mouth area is the fact that it is too flat. If you look at the profile of a man you will see that from the nose down the face slopes back towards the neck. The second thing is he does not have enough chin. The neck is way too far forward. (you will also see this in the profile shot)

What do you mean by «sag»?

When you have a bag full of groceries (one of those plastic things full of lets say oranges) it sags at the bottom. He has from the tip of his chin to his neck a lot of sag.

Ok I think I understand, In Quebec we say something like «Double chin» :stuck_out_tongue: But I want to make him look a little bit fat, I’ll try with less of that sag.

Thanks

Hey… I think double shin is what people say around here too… (opposite coast and a bit south) Its just me, though. I can never remember what word I am look for so I substitute one I can actually remember. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks

Most of it looks ok except his mouth needs a lot of pulling. I do see the look you’re going for, but as it is now, the mouth is a biiit too square.

Thanks, I have rough time with that mouth!.. Anyway… little update, that’s it for tonight :stuck_out_tongue:

hmm…lookin good IMO…keep it up…

Hi… last update before camping! Yes january camping. Anyway, The hat is ugly… made it in 30 second just to see a pirate style on this caracter. I will probably remake it friday. I’va made a uv unwrap test and… it’s a nightmare to unwrap! Don’t really know what i’ll do…

whoa, your char really roX. The idea of a pirat is good too, bu then i would hink about a beard. Cant you just turn the multires down and unwrap it then. This shouldn’t be a nighmare.

Pirate? Hmmm… To me he looks like some thug from East London, 1840. /:] Dunno why, something about the mouth and nose looks kinda British.

Looks more like a cowboy … just rename it and voila

Hey thanks for the reply, Yes it’s really better if i turn the multires down but when I go to the UV face select mode, my seems disapear just like when I get out of the edit mode.

Sorry for double posting but here’s an update

Don’t care about textures, it’s just procedural, they are not final.
