Pivot Control

I have looked through noob to pro, done a search everywhere i can think of and just cant seem to find the answer to what i am sure is a very simple question: How do i move the pivot point into the center of an object? For some reason even if i manually move it with insert the object is still scaling around the origin (0,0,0).:spin:
EDIT: I found it. was a button down in the editing panel

Its possible,.in the 3d header, there is an option called something like Rotating/Scaling point, right next to the viewport shading method button !
