Pivot points, snapping, and saving UI layouts

New user here. Just started using Blender recently, and currently trying to find my feet in the software.

Anyway, 3 main questions:

  1. How does one reposition the pivot point of any object while in Object and Edit Mode? Is there a shortcut key that can be used?

  2. Are there any shortcuts that allow me to snap objects/vertices/faces/edges to other objects/vertices/faces/edges? Similar to Maya’s x, c and v, shortcuts?

  3. How does one save and switch between different UI Layouts?

  1. The Pivot Point can be changed from an icon Menu in the header, second icon right of the Context menu, and the tooltip gives the hotkeys. I suspect you might mean the Object Center though? In F9 buttons, Mesh tab (or Curve and Surface depending) Center, CenterNew and CenterCursor work only in Object mode.

  2. Shft-S has a basic Snap menu. In 2.43 and later versions the magnet icon in edit mode (Shft-Tab) offers more:
