Hello all. I am trying to make an animated movie, but I have almost no experience with animation, I have animated for games before but I have never gotten my animation to look as excellent as Pixar or dreamworks. Can anyone please help me with learning to animate like a professional? Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks
I’d probably start with trying many different rigs, doing small animations in abundance and consistently.
In addition to that examining rigging theory.
Best of luck
Ok thanks ️
Before you do any major animations, follow this checklist in order.
animate:
Bouncing Ball
Chain swinging
Bouncing ball with tail
bowling ball down a stair
Cube with legs walk cycle
Cube with legs jumping from one platform to the other
Character walk cycle
Character picking up and throwing a ball
character lifting a heavy object
Also learn all the Disney’s 12 principles of animations, and understand them. here is a good serie on them.
dont just watch them, Understand them! at first they may seem like guidelines, but of you watch any animation you will see that most of these rules always apply.
the animation things are listed in increasing difficulty. learning animation takes a long time, do NOT try to animate a character right away. every animator has gone through a list of easier animations.
post the animations on the Work in progress thread to get feedback. once all of your animations has been approved, then move on to animating whatever you want.
This sounds like “I’ve never wrote before, besides xmas wishes cards. Can anyone tell me how to make me write novels like Hemingway or Pirandello?”
nice list… looks like I skipped a few of those and need to go back and pick up some more practice…
