The website blendertorenderman.org has information on open source projects related to Pixar Renderman and Blender, but I have some additional questions that don’t have obvious answers on that website.
Could someone please set me straight on this?

To use the commercial Renderman product from Pixar, the only thing you need is a valid rib file correct? This means, that if you export a rib file from Blender, you simply render it through Renderman?
-
The rib file has no other necessary support files for a complete render?
-
The open source projects available are mostly to allow you to use Blender as an Integrated environment to launch Renderman from right?

This one threw me off. The blendertorenderman.org projects relate to an open source version of Renderman, not just file export plugins, so basically the idea is that it’s a renderer based on the Renderman specification? So you don’t have to make a commercial purchase of Renderman.
I wanted to add, that I looked through the website, but since I am new to Blender, I was not sure where open source and commercial relate. I would prefer to stick with Blender for future projects, but I am very interested in Pixar Renderman and I am not so much interested in an open source version of Renderman. If you have done this before, please let me know if it is sensible to use Blender for Modeling and then is it possible to make full (FULL) use of Pixar Renderman for rendering. Are there serious limitations? Can I expect the same capability - say as if I were to render out from Maya? If you have a real life example or blog of this combined workflow please link it. I am especially interested to hear from you if you worked with Renderman, Maya and Blender.
