placing multiple texture images on a surface

i’ve created some walls of a room using NURBS surfaces.
I want to add various ‘pictures’ onto the walls, like the windows in this image (created ages ago in Cinema 4d)

i’ve got the textures loaded in to blender, but unsure of what settings to use to position and size the image onto the surface.

I think that answer lies in the ‘map input’ > ‘object’ setting.
tooltip reads–> ‘uses linked objects coordinates for texture coordinates’

what is the linked object?

Thanks

You have to fill in the name of another object, usually this would be an empty. If you move (scale, rotate) the empty, the texture will change together with the emtpy.

Object mapping projects the texture along some other objects (usually an empty) z axis. You enter the objects name in the blank field beside the object button. It’s usually used for applying decals to models. Rotating the named object rotates the texture, scaling the object scales the texture etc.

GreyBeard

Hi there.

Thanks v much. I thought it would be somthing like that, didn’t realise the grey box to the right of the ‘object’ button was actually an input box for setting the name of the positioning object.

problem solved
