Plant architecture modeling

Hello, i am new to blender and 3d modeling as well.

Maybie some of you have experience in this topic. Im asking those who are working in modeling for plant architecture or had some ocasional ptojects, or maybie you know someone who does?

I am interested in creating models for plant architecture designers to use in their visualisations. I do understand that models have to be realistic, yet not over detailed. I am trying to grasp the balance before going into wrong direction. My questions:

How detailed plants should be?As it is possibly the flower won’t be viewed as a single flower rather than a part of composition?
Is using a lot shaders and particles/normal maps make model heavier on the programs designers use, especially professional ones? Or it doesn’t have as much difference?

Any insight will be helpful…
