The soccer ball probably needs its own thread, LOL. But it is on topic as we are discussing how Plasticity’s tools can aid the Blender artist interested in hard surface modeling and how that workflow compares to Blender’s native tools and other solutions.

This is true, but when I posted the soccer ball it was only to highlight that the export of the meshes was excellent and had no defects in the shading, then it became a race to demonstrate that it could be done with other programs, and it went slightly off topic.

  • Offset edge gizmo: New gizmo that resembles the two-sided fillet gizmo
  • Draft face: Gizmo allowing offset when planar (non-reference)
  • Draft face: Accept (unchanging) reference surface
  • Copy/paste inherits material and name
  • Alternative-Duplicate faces: inherit name and material
  • Text tool: some additional fonts
  • Contruction Planes in Outliner
  • Bridge vertex/curve has gizmo for continuity
  • Touchpad: Use cursor for orbit point
  • Autosave named files every X minutes (configurable)
  • Outliner: Distinguish meshes and images in the outliner
  • Outliner: context menu now has “move selected items to root”
  • Outliner context menu: Group selection here & Group at root.
  • Measurements panel: Show angle between two planes
  • Group command, if all items have same parent, are grouped at that parent
  • PolygonCommand: remember last vertexCount
  • Measurements/Sidebar: Select faces by surface class
  • Groups: Deleting a group moves its children to its parent
  • Measurements: Copy to clipboard in user’s preferred units
  • Rectangular array: specify distance by extent or spacing . Radial array: specify distance by extent or spacing
  • Snaps: Closed polygon center point
  • Snaps: Corners of images

Great release, I hope to see more surfacing features in the next 6-12 months

Plasticity feels sort of like a cross between Rhino and Sketchup. Is there a way to keep drawn curves locked to a selected face, similar to the pencil tool in Sketchup? I know I could create construction planes etc. I was hoping for a workflow closer to Sketchup. Thank you.

Bug Fixes released an update Plasticty v24.2.1

At this time the best way is the use of the new feature deform.

Or the use of the spline with in conjunction of the option knife.
And you can do that.

The knife option was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
