Playing animations

Does anyone know where the “Play” button that, in 2.49, was in the animation render panel, has gone?

Or do you know of a ram player for playing back a series of images?

I’ve had this problem for a long time.

But good news! My programmer boss (who listens to me whine about this all the time) just wrote me a program to do just this! He says he’ll clean it up a bit and release it for free in the next day or so. Stay tuned!

While this is not the support forum, here is the answer:
If you take a look in the render menu at the top you will find a “Play Animation” item. This will start whatever external player you specified in the user preferences.
The button is not in the panel yet but adding it should be trivial.
As far as players go djv is quite nice but if it fails you there is still blender 2.49.

Thar tis. Windows only, although might work in Mono (untested.) Drag images into the window to load them, spacebar pauses/starts, arrow keys cycle through.

The problems I have with the animplayer (aside from it being broken in 2.5) are numerous. No alpha display, it distorts when you move it/resize it (bad for 2d sprites), and on my older slow computer it wouldn’t cycle the animation well for judging cycles (it’d freeze up/pause at the last frame.)
