Plaza de Armas, Lima, Peru 1821

This one was made for as a virtual studio for a broadcast news channel using Blender, Zbrush, Substance Painter, Unreal Engine (plus some unreal assets), and Rossvideo Voyager.

Blender was used the assets (the fountain, buildings, decoration, etc), Zbrush for a sculpture that was discarded, Painter to texture the assets, Unreal Engine / Voyager for rendering and to be used as a virtual studio set.

Very cool use of Blender and Unreal. We’re only scratching the surface of virtual studio usage and it’s bound to be a growth area in the future.

Out of interest, what was the story being covered?

It was the place where, in 1821 was declared the Independence Day in Peru… kinda like Bill Pullman speech in the american movie, but instead of aliens we were free from spanish invaders.

Back two hundred years ago, the Plazas ( Squares? ) were used as markets, so up to this day you still go to “the plaza”, when you are going to a market.

Virtual Studio sets in covid-19 time help us because that way, the news anchor dont have to go outside, and we can reduce some operative costs.

I thought it must’ve been an important story to warrant that level of production value.
