Please help me choose a better config...

Hi Guys,

I am new here… and been working with blender for a while.

I am planning to buy a new computer for rendering purposes with the following configuration.

All inputs are appreciated…

I am kinda confused with so much choice available in the market and these things are like a big investment for me…

Config -

CPU - Xeon E5 2630 v3 (coz I read somewhere that blender can use the number of cores available, and in some of the i5 and i7 series, there is a GPU in the CPU. When we go for a dedicated graphics card, we dont use the CPUs GPU )

Motherboard - Asus X99 A (just a compatible motherboard, and in some “make your custom PC” sites, I saw this combination and this does not have an onboard graphics card, so I am not paying for the things I am not using…)

Graphics Card - NVIDIA GTX 980 (this is suggested in some “make your custom pc” with the above combination and it also has comparitively more number of CUDA cores)

Do the above combination work well? or there are any mismatch/better combination?

Please help…

regards

I just purchased a new system with these parts:

1 x ($389.99) Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.3 GHz LGA 2011-v3 140W BX80648I75820K Desktop Processor

1 x ($219.99) MSI X99A Raider LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

1 x ($199.99) G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15Q-32GRR

1 x ($30.99) Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

I’m really happy with it, but it was pricy ($871 US with shipping to Alaska). You do need a fairly large case (for the cooler) and I went with this one which I’m also very happy with.

Good luck with your build.

Thanks for your replies Guys!

Looks like its better to stick to intel ix family.

Get a 980 ti or AMD R9 390. 980 is as expensive as 980 ti but has less VRAM.
