Please help me with "to sphere" mesh tool.

Hi! I love blender very much and everything always works so great whatever it is im trying to do! Except for the to sphere mesh tool. I have these 12 vertices i want to have move into a circular shape but stay on the plane they are on. so i snapped my 3d cursor to the selection (the 12 vertices) and click the “to sphere” mesh tool and ok for 100% The resulting shape seems to be an oval for some reason. I tried to upload a picture so maybe you can see the result. Edit: i am still using blender 2.49b for compatibility reasons.

Not sure what the problem is, but why can’t you just add a 12-vertex circle?

  1. I guess your normals are messed up and/or the object scaling. I don´t even want to know how you created your object
  2. What CD38 said.

Thanks for the suggestions! anyway my object shown there consists of 2 12 vertex rectangles that are on 2 diferent intersecting planes. the selected rectangle changes to that shape when i click the to sphere button, and of course my 3d cursor is snapped to the midpoint of those 12 vertices. i duplicated the vertices in question from a bag that i had made earlier. i needed to make some rivets in the bag to hold the straps in place. I ended up not solving the issue yet, but i added a cylinder and copied the object data over from the bag to position it. this way i had to change the local x rotation of one of the cylinders (because the planes of the side of the bag intersect on the local x axis) and mirror it for positioning. I just think it would have been quicker if i could have used the to sphere tool.EDIT: and um. how do i get carriage return to work when posting?
