Please Help

Alright, Im new to the forum, but I have been using Blender for a few years now, so im not exactly new to it. With that being said im still learning new things with it, and right now im working on a project involving a robot invasion featuring robots kicking each other’s asses.

One thing Ive never had to do until now however is to do an animation, and then in that animation have a body limb being shot/cut off (and more in this case). I dont know what this technique is called, and keep in mind that these are robots, so im dealing with mechanical riggings.

Does ANYONE know how to help me???

You can make the arm bone a seperate armature, and give it a copy loc constraint to an empty which is parented to the shoulder region of the main armature, then key the influence of the constraint from the constraints panel.
