It looks like a good start. If you select it and hit W and then select “Set Smooth” it will smooth it out. If you hit O that turns on proportional editing. When you go to move something (or scale/rotate) then you will see a circle that tells you how much influence you will have. You can use the mouse wheel to make it bigger or smaller. So if you grab the bottom-back with that on and move it out you can make the “pear” shaped body L shaped like the character is.
What tutorial are you refering to?
As for the ears, they can be a cube extruded two times with the vertices ajusted and then loopcut to make it a little round.
but the character is gonna end up looking bad odnt u think? i want this guy to be good…and how do u do the eyes? btw im refering to the video tut that rookie posted
Well I think it looks good for one of your first models. Even if it doesn’t turn out the way you wanted after doing more projects you’ll get better and can come back and try it again. To do the eyes you can add two spheres and then use the proportional editing method I mentioned above to get them to match the picture.
You’d want the eyes to move? I don’t think it would look bad at all, since the original ears are about that.
In the movie i did post he is modelling the object in the “edit mode” with activated “mirror modifier”. Hit Space to add a plane to start. I’ve marked the settings in this screenshot:

he is sopoo cute is he low polygon he looks it ?
he said in mirror mode he had the do clippings and the “mirror cage strong” which i odnt know what that is…and the eyes are suppoesd to be flat…but if i cant make the eyes flat i made cartoon eyes using a tutorial in this site…but its on another file an i dont know how to export an object from another file
To import an object, got to File->Append or Link and then choose what you want. As for the clipping, you can turn on that option in mirror modifiers “menu”. But that can be found in the manual…=P
in the video he also said he set the “mirror cage strong”, what is that?? and what if i want to make it a good high quality model?..and how do i get rid of this ugly line between the cylinder and the sphere i used to make the ear??i tried coloring it and it didnt work…and also how do i get it to be an L shape…haha sorry for so many questions
thnks in advance

To make the “mirror cage strong” you need to activate the “do clipping” Button in the Mirror modifier. This prevents you to move a Vertex above the mirror axis.
IF you want to make the seam smooth:
It is not easy, but therefore you must have the 2 Meshes as seperate Objects, then use the boolean modifier to union the 2 objects to 1 Objects (The cylinder must have caps on the end so its a closed mesh). After this step try the sculpt tool in the smooth modus to make the edge soft.
But in general this is not a good method i commend you to rough model your figure out with Metaballs and Metacubes and the add a multires and final sculpt it like you want.
Hust to carifly a couple of things: Do you want to do him as a lowpoly game character or are you aiming for a highres version of him?
I think you should try to make him out of one mesh and not using different meshes for the ears, nose, etc…
You should research different modelling methods like boxmodelling or poly by poly modelling then you will understand how things are done.
Take a look at the links posted about beginners tutorials and do one of them then things should become more clear.
i think thats what im gonna do…but the problem for the low poly character video tutorial that was posted is that his character looks nothing like mine, and i can find exact side/top view pictures of my character to load as my background img.
In doing that tutorial you will be better equipped by knowing the techniques and Blender and will be able to do this character easier after doing so. If you can’t find perfect references you can use gimp/photoshop to alter the perspective of the image to get it close. It shouldn’t be so bad with a cartoony character. If you were trying to do a person with less then adequate references it probably wouldn’t go as well.
i just cant…the way i got the pics is by going in the game ang pressing the print screen button on the keyboard…the curves in the body just dont add up and its way to hard for ma and i dont know what to do…i cant use the tutorial this way it just doesnt work
I have made a Video how you can fast and easy create your doodle the way i explained before.
Please take a look on it. You can download it in full resolution in the right down corner on vimeo.
i saw the video and it looked good…i’ll tell you how it goes for me later when i have time…thnks
i cant open the video because of its.ogg file format…is here a way u can send it to me as a WMA or MP4 or AVI?
Try the VLC Player http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
It is playing almost any format.
GTK-recordmydesktop creates only this fileformat. But it is small in size and good quality.
got it! im gonna try modeling it likw that with my doodle…THANKS!
