plop render?

(ragman) #1

hey everyone, i got a problem with a slow computer and i hate waiting for the entire scene to render just to see the results of a single material change. i heard somewhere there is a plop render or preview render shortcut in blender, ive got 2.41 and will be moving to 2.43 soon. please does anyone know how to preview render just a single area. this will help tremendously. thanks.

It still might take a while (SHIFT + P), but it’s quicker than a normal render, and you can (and probably should) re-size the box to only look at that specific object. Also, you could move the object (and lights) to another layer by themselves, and then render (only that layer).

Also, turn off advanced stuff (ray tracing, shadows, AO, etc.) unless absolutely necessary
