Pokemon: Dark Chronicles. Going to try again.

I want to model them all in alphabetical order, starting with abra. This is Abra:

i want to poly-model it, so how would I make a frontal and side view based on this picture? I can’t find a blueprint online.

You could probably make your own if you took measurements.

Measurements taken. I have almost done his left foot. The toes were hard to do…
Still need to thicken his toes, and the soles of his feet, and add a point on the knee. Shouldn’t be hard.

Crits?

Here’s my update. Both feet done, just polished and mirrored the first. Any tips on improving the mesh, or does it look ok so far?

Do the legs on the model look kind of skinny to you?

Your right, I’ll scale them accordingly, then the next thing to come is the massive tail, to connect the legs.

STAGE 1: Legs: 90% Complete
STAGE 2: Tail
STAGE 3: Lower Torso
STAGE 4: Upper Torso (AKA Body Armour)
STAGE 5: Arms
STAGE 6: Head

That is how I’m going to prioritize the mesh.

Were you planning on making them low poly, high poly or just whatever it ends up being?
If you aren’t going low poly, you may want to try subsurfing to smooth it out a little, and round it slightly. If you need sharp creases, just add more edge loops. It seems like a fairly monumental task to model all of the pokemon (or does Dark Chronicles contain far less?)

Anyhow, Keep us updated on your progress, it seems like an interesting project.

Contagion.

Dark Chronicles only contains mostly Kanto pokemon, with some Johto in there too. I’m just modelling them so I’ll have them when needed, for instance there is a city infested with Kakuna and Beedrill, that I’d rather already have the model for. Abra hasn’t shown up yet, but the story is unfinished, the author gave up on it. A year or two ago I e-mailed him for permission to do this, and he granted it. The story ends at a cliff hanger, so I thought why not make it, and finish it myself? I tried, but it proved too much for me, but I’ve improved, so it shouldn’t be a problem.
STAGE 1: 98% COMPLETE: May need tweaking
STAGE 2: 75% Complete
Planning on Low Poly, Keep It Simple Stupid! (Maths Mantra)!

The tail and leg area is mostly complete, apart from some possibly necessary tweaking. Also ewxtruded and leveled out a frame to build on for the lower body. What do you think so far?

Lower Body, and Arms done now. The arms probably need to be longer though.

Just done the armour. Please could you crit?

Pokemon,Pokemon,Where did you go? really, the model looks great,Pokemon brings back memories…

Thanks Takarta, I’m enjoying this. Just his neck and head to go, then I UV the Purple ring on his tail and his purple body armour. Then it’s just rigging (SHUDDER) Hate rigging, it always goes pear shaped!

I want to select a group of vertices that has gone inside the model. I moved the legs, to put them in another position, but now I can’t find the top of the join, as it is on the inside of the body. If I just select connected vertices, it will select everything but the arms. What should I do, to make all faces accessible?

ummm you should try the hiding method…just select the vertices u dont want to see and press H…i don understand what u want me to tell u cuz i didn understand ur question…

Thanks, that’ll work! I’m vertex painting it, done the armour, just doing the skin. Any tips on rigging it for motion, without it warping?

It looks fine, though to model all 300+ Pokemon it will take a while.

I used to watch Pokemon, I guess I quit watching after noticing a lot of episodes use the same formula where Ash and friends meet someone, they get to know each other, then Team Rocket shows up (sometimes early) ect…

Sorry about the revival, but it aint over yet! Before I do colours, I’m going to try to rig it. Any tips on avoiding deformation?
