Just FYI: calling the icons monochrome is a bit of a misnomer. They are glyphs, colored by the theme depending on the context - see the Outliner for example.
More theme categories can be added to control this more to give more color variation.
A more correct term would be âthemable glyph symbols vs fixed bitmapsâ.

Itâs not right question for such a poll. You should ask: which version users prefer. In current way you are suggesting what one would want.

I also think there has been an overall confusion in the on-going debate as to what people even mean by color vs monochrome, which is really causing a lot of misunderstanding. And thatâs also not made clear in this poll.
As I see it, there are those that prefer:
- Single color flat icons - monochrome
- Multi-colored - ie 2/3 layers of color
- Shaded, non-flat icons
- Variation - Some icons are blue, some icons are orange, some white, etc.

I agree, Its also hard to decide if you would prefer the colored version when it doesnât fully exist yet. I might prefer one persons colored version to another colored version.
I was just curious with this poll, I would of thought the right/left click would be closer to 50/50 but it turned out 70/30.
If this one stays course for roughly 50/50 then maybe we could do another poll that is a little more specific.

Im blown away by the fact that this poll is flat even so far. I thought it would lean 90% in favour of coloured.
Mind you, i dont actually care if the icons are coloured or not, but i can still see the benefits of having them coloured.
I think we need a âi dont mindâ option on this one. I actually suspect a lot of people would pick it. Agree, disagree?
I agree, the poll isnât specific enough, as people have pointed out. And it might actually mess with your poll results, because people might assume different things about each option. E.g., some people might assume âcolored iconsâ means bringing back the old 2.7-styled icons, and while they might prefer a splash of color, they still like the 2.8-styled icons, and so theyâll end up voting âmonochromeâ to be safe. Instant clouded vote.
It would be good to show actual mockups of the different types of coloring methods brought up by the other commenters, and do a poll based on those.

Im fine with someone making a more specific poll.
I am not sure I am the best person to make sure its a fair poll. This was just for my own curiosity. We can erase this thread and start a new one, or maybe I can update close this poll (@FinalBarrage feel free to make any changes that you think would be beneficial ).
Maybe you should make a poll to see if we should make a new poll? 
In all seriousness, Iâm choosing not to vote as I donât think it would contribute to accurate results. If a new poll was made, variation would be my vote (per the list I made above.)
