Its been quite a while since I posted an artwork here… so here goes.
Technically this is not ‘traditional art’ but since it wasn’t created in blender, I guess this is the place to post…
Its a Porsche Mirage GT, created in CorelDrawX5 (for those who don’t know, CorelDraw is a commercial software suite similar to Inkskape). Took me about 2 days to create…
Beautiful ! I have messed around with vector art software like inkscape before and done a few doodles (I’m talking doodles compared to that). Nothing like that though! I mainly use gimp and a tablet device now to generate simple concept art. It’s always neat to see what it’s possible to draw with these programs.
My workflow is as follows:
-get a good reference pic.
-trace it… gasptrace it? Yes, I actually trace the outlines of the image before I shade it. (its kind of like using blueprints for a model in blender…)
-do the shading. (this is the hard part, every single highlight and shadow has to be made ‘by hand’ so to speak. you don’t have Cycles to do it for you… )
The flames were rendered at very high res, but I ended up with a 4.7mb image after exporting from corel, (CorelDRAW tends to export large images…) so I had to ‘compress’ the image for web viewing… or maybe I’m just a little lazy:) I’m sure I can get the image higher res with more effort, but like I said, Its just a fun ‘spin-off’ from the original…
