Hello, everyone! This is my latest ‘experiment’. I’m currently working on textures for it, but for now all I have is a clay render. This project was mainly to improve my sculpting skills, but I’m still pretty terrible at it >.<
Had you placed it in a different angle, you could see it in a different light.
Outside of that, it looks pretty nasty. But for those who get stung by a jellyfish you know what to do!
It seems like a jellyfish would be equally challenging as a texturing exercise! Anyhow, I think it looks great. Maybe add a little variation to the length of the tentacles, they sort of seem cropped.
@ XeroShadow, actually you need to treat Man o’ War stings differently than jellyfish ones
@ gstein, You’re right about the tentacles; they’re too perfect in length >.< I’ll fix that on my next render
@ FreakyDude, that long? Thanks, by the way
Sorry I couldn’t respond sooner, but I couldn’t access the blenderartists site (about 50% of the time I try to access it, the connection times out), but here are some updates. They’re pretty terrible, though. Sculpting and Texturing are my two weak spots in Graphic Arts, so I’m sort of trying to improve those two areas. Anyway, I know the material settings need some work, but for now this is what I have. Shown below are a render with the Man o’ War and materials, the diffuse map, and the alpha/specular map (I used the same map for both, and it worked pretty well).
