Position 3d View to Selection

How would I have the 3d view face a selection? For example, I’ve rotated a cube several times…now I want to look at it from a straight angle.

there is a key on the keypad that does that. I THINK it’s the slash key but I rarely use it.

It’s the * on the keypad. Aligns to the objects local axis. Shift-v will align the view to a selected face.
