positioning of textures

Good Evening…
there is a small problem i meet when texturing a model in blender.
suppose i have a sphere, and i want to apply a texture to it. assume the texture didn’t come as i expected… how do i change its orientation or its angle? or more precisely, how do i change the point in the sphere, where blender starts putting my texture! (i.e. i want the texture to start on a certain vertex of the sphere)… is this possible? and if so, how can i do it?

thank you very much in advance

This can be done easily.
1)Go in editmode and select the point of the sphere where you want the texture to start. Push shift-s and select the option “cursor to selection” Go out of editmode.
2)Push space -> add -> empty. Give the empty a good name.
3)Select teh object you want to texture. Go to the material buttons. Add the texture. Then, in the material buttons, you’ll see a group of green buttons. Look for the button called “object”, and push it. The push the button to the right of it, and fill in the name of teh Empty you created in step 2).

voila.

hope that helps

Also if you want to rotate the texture 90 degrees you can go into the textures buttons and select [rot90].
