Positioning the 3D Cursor

Is there a way to manipulate the 3D cursor the way you can manipulate objects? Can you assign it specific XYZ coordinates?

Not sure why you would want to, but you could create an empty and place it exactly at the coordinates you want using the G key and entering the exact values using the number keys (not the numeric keypad number keys). The first number presses will be for the X coordinate … now press Tab to input the Y coordinate, press Tab and enter the Z coordinate. Press Enter to accept the coordinates. Then you can Shift S 4 (Shift Key, S key then the number 4 key … again not the numeric keypad 4 key). This will snap the cursor to the center of the empty … the exact coordinates you need.

Of course, what you can do with an empty, you can do with any other object that is selected. That’s why I’m not sure why you want to position the cursor at an exact spot.

im guessing that you want your cursor to be in an exact place.

click on the [view] button in the 3d window’s header. there will be a button that says [view properties]. a small window will pop up, and you can plug in the coordinates of the cursor there…

i hope this helps

Yes, that’s what I want to do.

Excellent, I knew there had to be a control for the 3D cursor somewhere. Thank you.
