I’ve been trying to get a good hair simulation …and it’s almost there but there’s not quite enough control to make the hair stiff where I need it to be(at the roots). But I can get what I’m after using cloth. So here’s the question.
Is it possible to stick the particle hair to long cloth geometry? This way I could just simulate cloth and still have the nice look of the particle hair.
if not, it seems like it would be a good feature to add.
But for the sim, you can control stiffness along the strand. The sims have the (counterintuitive) property, that stiffness scales with the distance between vertices. So if you subdivide the hair finer towards the tip and keep the coarse subdivision at the root, you get the behavior that the hair is stiffer there.
I didn’t realize I could subdivide a particle strand. When I go into wright mode, I can see 4 or 5 vertices but can’t find a way to increase that. Are you able to explain further?
In particle edit mode you have to choose point select mode (the middle icon). Then you can select individual hair vertices and subdivide the segments with Particle->Subdivide (just as with the meshes).
