Possible updates for PC

Hey good people

I’ll have a bit of extra cash available next month, and I was thinking I might throw it at upgrading my PC. Not that it’s lacking or anything currently, but maybe you people can spot something that could do with an update. I only model, no animation, but sometimes the models are quite big and complicated.

My current specs are:

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 8-Core Processor
Ram: 64 gb.
Graphics card: GeForce RTX 4060
Processor: AMD Ryzen
1 TB SSD harddisc

If I’m missing some information, do let me know.

Based on just modelling, nothing really super stands out.
Since it’s an AM4 platform with already 64GB RAM and a fairly OK CPU, any major changed would mean a whole new motherboard/CPU/RAM and even then, it may not make all that much difference to everyday performance.

A second/larger hard drive maybe, say a Gen 4 M.2 drive, unless that’s what you mean by SSD.

Outside of that, maybe think outside the ‘box’ a bit. How do you feel about your current keyboard or mouse, are they really old, would something with maybe extra features be useful or something more modern and comfortable.

Speaking, of which, what about the chair you sit in and/or how old is the monitor, what size/resolution. A larger/sharper desktop is never a bad thing and a good quality monitor can last for years, over a number of PC updates.

I feel the same way.
Prepare a storage device for backup or use it as a fund for future major updates.

When rendering becomes more utilized, GPUs may need to be replaced.
8gb has no problem modeling but is vulnerable to rendering of scenes at scale.

There’s really nothing worth upgrading with your current build and the current economic climate. Get a backup drive or two, maybe a NAS, call it a day

Thank you so much, I’ll definitely look into upgrading my chair (can’t believe I didn’t think of that one myself), as well as get an extern harddisc for backups. Thanks for taking time to look at this and answer.

X3D cpu, maybe GPU? not really needed for a new GPU
