Possibly a very noob question but...

I am trying to set up blender so when i open the .blend file it appears as blender with 2 windows seperated down the vertical, the window to the right is smaller in width.
the window on the left contains the 3d view of the model.
in this window on the right id like to have a script run automatically upon opening the file, is this possible?

To get the windows to open the right way, simply set it up as you want it, and choose “Save default settings” from File. That includes models you want in it. To make a script autorun, check out scriptlinks in the wiki and set one for your world.

Oh, and those were not all that noobish questions… the scriptlink stuff is actually a little advanced

Cognis is right, but you can also just click Ctrl + U, maybe a little quicker. And, never be afraid to ask questions, this is a very supportive community and will with pretty much any noobish question you have.

Lord knows they’ve tolerated me and my eccentric angle on the business/hobby

Thats kinda cool i was wondering how that was working.

Do they still have nugget hunts around here? I saw one or two. Basically, people post in a thread to describe weird things they figured out could be done in Blender, which no one seemed to have noticed before. I learned so many freaky (and useful!) things in those

hey,
i tried that, but i got an error saying Draw.Register cant be used in script links :frowning:
is there a way around this?
by the way thanks for the replys, help is greatly appreciated
cheers

Read the wiki on scriptlinks again. They are a bit difficult to understand (which is why I don’t give the answer myself:o)

i could not find script links on the wiki :frowning: assuming im looking on the right wiki! lol

hmmm… try google. “scriptlinks”, one word, and “blender”, and maybe “tutorial”

http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Reference/Buttons/Script_Context is a start, tho
