Power saving configuration for a laptop

Hi guys, this is my first post here. I am learning blender in my laptop, but at this moment I am traveling and so often I don’t have the chance of finding a plug to charge my laptop battery.
I was wondering if I can get some tips to configure blender so it doesn’t suck my battery dry while modeling.
I know that rendering requires a lot of CPU, but maybe there is a way to lower the quality of previews and renders so I can focus in learning and not in the quality of visualization.
Thanks in advance!

I also use Blender exclusively on a laptop. Best advice I can give: get two spare batteries and make sure they’re charged (all three) before going on a trip.

EDIT: Because of the earlier mix-up with multiple posts, the edited version got lost, so…

Multiple batteries,
make sure they’re all charged,
or
travel by train where they have outlets for plugging things in.

i dont think thats really possible.

I do believe something is amiss here. I really had no intention of repeating myself… not THAT often, anyway.

Hi, use Material instead of Rendered for preview.
For modelling and scene setup use Solid, render is not needed anyway.
Some work even in Wireframe mode.

Cheers, mib
