Practicing with animation!

Well, I got the basics of modeling down now, so I thought I should learn rigging and animation next. So here are a couple of quick animations I did:

Walking cycle:

Animation for when character is idle:

Let me tell you that you have a long way to go with animation. You have a great start, but you will have to look at a bit more tutorials to get a more orgainic look.

This is not too bad a start, actually. At frame 14 he lifts up a bit high, and at frame 29 he goes down way too low, he is almost sitting down. It might also help you to give him a slightly shorter step.

You should also use the toe bone way more, so that he is not balancing on his toe so much

Oh, I just saw this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QO_XjJa3Y5Y&feature=relmfu it is much better! He is stomping his feet a bit, though…

It looks like he’s doing lunges for the walking cycle. Great start though!
@second version: much better. Try lowering his knees a tad bit.

Hey everyone, thank you so much for your input. I do know that he is lifting his feet either too high or too low. I try to make it more “dynamic”, or at least a bit exagerated, but ended up looking pretty weird instead. Is good to hear that I am not that far off(well at least not further than far lol), but I gotta practice a lot more. I must practice more on the skeleton creation cuz some movements look just undoable in real life lol

On the first version I noticed he going up too high, so I brought it down a bit. On the second version I feel like it looks more natural, but still not quite normal lol is like he is marching.

I’ll try my best on my next rigging, but before I rush into animation again, I’ll study some theory first this time.

Again guys, thanks for your opinions =]

Ok, I was practicing on some animation and made this running cycle. I think I am improving little by little on rigging.

Nice work, I think it’s almost perfect.
