preview animation while rendering.

cinema 4d has this feature, u dont have to wait to preview how your anim is getting done.

hm, you mean see previous frames in video form while current frames are rendering?

I dunno if blender can do that, honestly i prefer to keep my processing power to rendering and and not playing high res video…

there is that new openGL thing that might suffice…

Just render your animation as an image sequence. Then you can open the sequence in a separate app that plays sequences (I usually use QT pro v7; I’ve also done it with MPEG Streamclip by selecting all the images – MPEG Streamclip said it didn’t think it could open it, but I told it to do it anyway, and it worked fine). I do this regularly to check my animations mid-render. It especially helps identify unanticipated flickering or aliasing problems.
