This is a project i did to ‘test’ Cycles. 500 samples by 7:15 hours because I rendered on my mac mini with CPU:(.
Well, the materials are very well done, but it looks nothing like a prison cell with exception to the ceiling, and the bars. prison cells usually don’t have tiles in them. Question: is the floor purely a texture, or some geometry. Oh, and it might be nice to have a view of the outside through the window, even if it be just clouds.
it was not suposed to be a prison cell, i just needed a title
the floor actually is made of single meshes, but i see i could move them a bit upwards.
Really nice NickKT
The one thing that doesn’t quite feel right is the way the chair interacts with the ground.
looks really nice, although did you have any particular motivation for choosing that style of chair? i would think something less modern might suit the overall mood more. ex:

Now the window is transparent and i moved the floor up. i tried to use an older chair, but the orange sticks more out.
Humm. You are good with texture. What you need is dirty cast ion bathtub in the corner, and not a chair.
Neat texturing, perhaps the tiles could be a lot thinner though, they kinda make the room look a bit small.
Neat image!
Consider the scaling of the tiles and the chair. If the chair is the scale reference point, the room is freakin’ tiny. The ceiling would probably come shoulder height for a tall guy like myself. If the rooms the ref, the chair is strangely huge. The tiles are also too think in my opinion. I’ve laid tiles several times, and these are much thicker than your average American ceramic tile.
Looks really good; the tiles on the walls attracted my attention though, as said, they seem overly-large.
Biggest issue for me is the fact they are sliding/slipping down the wall; that just isn’t believable, at least not imo. I can see where an odd tile may become skewed slightly but not to the extent these are. Also, where are all the missing tiles that have fallen off the wall? The few you show aren’t even damaged from the fall, never mind broken.
The scene outside the wiondow doesn’t match the window we look through; I actually preferred the first image.
Yeah as others posted the chair seems pretty big in comparison to the rest of the room. The windows also look a little bit weird because they are as tall as a door almost. It’s like you are supposed to walk out of the window.
