Prison Of The Red Fog

Prison Of The Red Fog.

This is going to be a old prison-sanctuary for some monsters in the service for their boss - like the great ork. The prison served for torturing as many prisoners that its fog became red.

The rocks were initially block-modeled to get the rough forms and then sculpted using dyntopo.
The rocks intentionally left as a bit unfinished (as the scene originally was created as low-poly / cartoonish and then switched to another style). I had no idea at that point what they could look like to not break the look so I have to move on.

The floor is modeled in the same way, rough modeling and dynamic sculpting. I baked normal map after that to low-poly version which decreased amount of polys by 200k, but that didn’t decrease render times (no idea why).

The fog is created using Mist pass overlayed with procedural texture and a hand-painted mask.

The chains modeled using Add Chain addon which is great for that; although Curve modifier adds inevitable distortions to chain parts.
Nothing special about fire and lanterns (yes, fire looks a bit flat, I didn’t really want to spare time for caching)…
I should also note that I used wider dynamic range LUTs by @troy_s to change colors in a less harmful way.
I already want that to be a game… well, that happens with me once more, I guess.
Rendered, composited with Cycles. No external post-processing.

Looks great, maybe add some blood spatter or something
