Out of curiosity: how much time in total would you guestimate it took to create that slick little bachelor pad - from blank scene to the final render in the image above?

It depends on how much the designer gives me!
Sometimes even 3 days with existing assets and standard materials.
Obviously the more time you have to dedicate to finishing, the better the final result will be.
