I have two rigged salamanders(really one duplicated) and I’ll go into the detail later. I’m animating them to sniff the ground. Everything’s good except they copie each other. I’ll change the ipo curves of one and it will change the other. I’m not that experienced in animating and I’m not that good at modeling either but please help me.
Just go to the IPO window and select all curves and make them single user in the field that says “IP:Obipo” . There should be “2” next to it click on it and accept the prompt to make single user .
Probably better to do that with the Action(s) (that were attached when the armatures were duplicated), either by changing the user to single or Add New Action (which does the same thing)
If you make the IPO single user, then it just adds another IPO to the same action. True, the IPO could then be changed for one of the armatures, whiile using the same Action, but I would think that would be pretty consfusing, and only useful in special situations (I can’t think of one right now
).
Actually when I did a test animation with an armature, there is no “2” for users, the IPO starts off with only the "F"ake user.
AllOverMan:
Ok it looks like you created an animation (Action) for the first armature (salamander), and then duplicated it. When you duplicated the armature, the current Action was also “attached” to the copy. If you open an Action window and select each of the Armatures one at a time, you’ll probably see the same action name. So if you continue to animate each armature without changing the action for one of them, they will share that actoin (which is sometime desirable).
If you want to start with a new action for either armature, click the “X” in the Action window header to “disconnect” the current action from the selected armature. Then click the double arrows and choose ADD NEW. If you want to make a unique copy of the current action, choose ADD NEW while the action name is still showing in the Action header. Any changes you make to the animation after will only affect that action.

thanks for the help. It worked.
