Problem importing dae files

Hi, does any one had this problem before… I exported a 300 MB sketchup file to a 500 MB dae file, and when I import it to Blender, Blender freezes… forever using between 15 to 20% of the CPU and around a GB of RAM

Da anyone have a solution?

try taking it into Meshlab Meshlab then exporting it as .ply
usually makes a smaller file

if it has a lot of smooth try
–>filters
–>remeshing simplification and reconstruction
–>simplification Quadric edge collapse decimation
