I usually have no problem with this, but I noticed that this time the faces are non aligned with global or local axis so its impossible to me to do it right, I have tried all the options but to no avail. Is there any way to achieve this?
I know there is the Offset Edge Slide that can achieve the result I want. The problem is that it adds loops that I usually dont want.
The images are only to show the problem its a cube where the model is rotated in edit mode, so the local and global axis are aligned, but not to the cube faces.
to scale alomng the local X or Y axis the object has to be rotated in object mode… in you second image with locale transformation orientation the angles are 0,0 and 0 …, so it seeems you rotated in edit mode ?? And so the local coordinates are the same as the global and so the scaling is along those and not the wanted rotated ones… (?)
Thanks! I’m new to BlenderArtists, even though I have been using Blender for quite a while . I’m a self-taught 3D artist, with programming as my main job, but I have been using 3D programs for several years now. Sorry for not introducing myself, I didn’t find an appropriate subforum to do so .
Yeah, that’s what I meant when I said that local and global axes are aligned; the mesh is rotated in edit mode. As I said, the box I used in the image was a little example to represent the problem I found when the faces aren’t axis aligned (neither locally nor globally) or the loop follows an arbitrary path.
I will post the mesh (a plane) with the original loops and the intended result. Again with the local axis the same as the global axis. I achieved it with edge slide offset, but as I said, I have to dissolve edges as it generates new ones, so I was wondering if I could achieve it with the good old loop scale.
I’ve tried all the other orientation and pivot point options without success. And also with custom orientations as oo_1942 sugessted, but due to arbitrary pathing, the results are not good as the normals change along the path.
Maybe I’m overcomplicating things. Sorry if that’s the case, most probably programmer issues but as I can see there is a code that does this in the offset edge tool, I’m just wondering if i’m missing something.
