Problem W/ Solidify

Hi,
not sure if i’m missing something obvious since my return to modelling, but:
i’m modelling an aeroplane, thought i’d try and model panels on the wings, so i duped the wing, cut panel shapes, and added a very thin Solidify. the issue is, when i look at it, the wings below [purple] are pushing through some of the panels [green]:

pretty sure this isn’t a camera/view issue as the pushthrough remains constant no matter how i Pan/Rotate.
sure if the panels are a dupe of the wing, extruded outwards from the solidify, there should be no push through from the lower geometry?

TIA

Likely had normals pointing in different directions when using the solidify, which extrudes along normals.

edit: looking at the original mesh: internal faces.
