I’m having a problem when using the new adaptive subdivisions feature in 2.78.
I have created a desk that I now wanted to try the adaptive subdivision modifier on. But somehow the textures that worked out just nicely before seem to be totally weirded up when I activate the adaptive checkbox. Does anyone know why that would be?
Okay so it seems to have something to do with the edge loops that are meant to keep things in shape even with subsurf on… I still haven’t figured out how to fix it tho… would greatly appreciate if anyone who knows what to do could assist me here
So in case someone stumbles upon the same problem… I’ve dug into it a bit and found that the new adaptive subdivisions has problems subdividing UVs… there is a workaround tho… you basically add a subsurf modifier without adaptive checked and set it to 1 level of subsurf… then you add another subsurf on top of it and check adaptive on that one… textures will work out nicely then.
While I realize I’m almost three years late to this party, I thought I’d see if anyone was still out there?
I’m experiencing this same issue and have heard about this double-subsurf-modifier approach from a few different places but I can’t seem to be able to make it work. Is this no longer effective as of 2.8? If anyone who’s successfully used this approach wouldn’t mind posting their modifier settings and the order in which they applied modifiers, unwrapped, etc, I’d really appreciate it!
I was using it today in bl 2.83 and noticed on my mesh that when i have a subsurf as the first modifier adaptive won’t show, when i add another one only than does it show. Though when i rendered, it did seem to work with just one subsurf without it showing adaptive. Seems like a bug, but have not tested it further
