problem with alt+V

(garuhhh) #1

hi guys! i was putting this texture (image) on a plane and pressed alt+V, and it did this weird scaling along the y-axis.
by the way, i rotated the plane so that its normal is aligned with the y-axis, and pressed CTRL+A to apply scale and rotation. i’m in blender 2.44, winxp sp2.

Try doing it before rotating the plane, or doing anything. but yes it does seem strange.

oh… so it really happens, i tried it also in 2.45 and same result… what i did to correct it was to rescale to 1 along the involved axis (y-axis in my case) using th “n” key. thanks alltaken!

thanks for that fligh, but that was what i was doing when this weird scaling along y-axis happend. see the axis of the plane in my attached image…it went well beyond the view.

It’s because your object occupies the X-Z plane and not the X-Y. Alt-V only works on X-Y and you’re confusing it. Don’t Ctrl-A on the object, that always sets the Axis to Z-Up. I can repeat your problem as in the pic and I can see why it does it.

That would be in local space I guess.
