Problem with dimensions of new objects

When I add a plane in this attached blend file(Blender 3.73a), the dimensions are 0 and the object shows up on the outliner but is invisible in 3D view. At the beggining all was right but now I have this issue.
Is there any reason why I can’t get dimensions to be other than 0 for new objects except for objects of type cube?

When you add the plane set the value for its radius in the toolshelf (shortcut T). Currently you have this set to zero
